Crash and Burn

Hello Everyone!

This week was an interesting one for sure... I will never ever forget the six weeks I have spent biking in Elk Plain. I was riding along on Friday and had service clothes in a bag because we had to change that night hanging from a bag on my handle.... never do that. It got caught on my leg and I tried to adjust it and lost control of my bike. I swerved towards the road, but trying to avoid the busy street I over corrected and flew down into a ditch and into the chain link fence at the bottom. To my relief no cars stopped (hopefully no one saw) I am pretty banged up and bruised, but nothing serious. Which is a blessing! I was able to get back up and keep riding! Hahaha. The experiences I have had on my bike are endless.

We met with lots and lots of members this week! This ward is very big and has lots of families! It is great and have been trying to help them share the gospel. They are so receptive and help us so much. My spiritual thought of the week is about being a leader. We had a talk in church about how to be a Christlike leader and I loved it. It really all goes back to love. More so than fixing someone, we should help them feel loved. People have their agency and will do what they wish to do, but as we love them they will follow our direction. One thing I also never thought about is Christ trusts us with His work even though we are unqualified. He could do it much faster and better, but He doesn't so that we can learn. As leaders, we also need to help the people we are serving to grow and learn from experience instead of just doing everything, even if we could do it better. That is the only way the follower will learn. We are all leaders, whether over people at work, in the home, at church, or otherwise we always are leading someone. As members of Christ's church we are leading those fallen away or lost back to the fold. We must aquire those attributes of Christlike leadership so we can help others come unto Him!

Also we were able to go to NorthWest Trek today! It is a big wildlife zoo! It was a blast for sure:) We got to ride a tram and look at all the animals. It is always so relaxing to just take a moment to enjoy the beauty of nature God has given us. Also I got super close to the grizzly bear. Which is a big step for me considering my scary encounter a couple of years ago haha! I love you all! Keep doing your best because that is all Heavenly Father asks of us!

Your Sister in Christ,

Sister Northrup
