Fourth of July Finding

Happy Fourth of July everyone! Mine was great! The best part was going to a member's house for dinner! They had lots of nonmembers over and it was great to mingle and get to know them. One even accepted my invite to a Relief Society party next week! Also it was hilarious to watch some of the guys in our ward go out on canoes and have a WWII "reenactment" They were shooting firework missals and rockets at each other out on the little lake hahaha! It was so fun to watch! They all came back with burned shirts and one of the kids had a big burn on his neck...Boys will be boys I suppose;)

Earlier this week we were praying to know where to go and I remembered a referral we had received from the elders. She didn't seem really solid but we tried anyways. We knocked and got no answer. I saw some cars around the side and investigated and found kind of a hidden door on the side. It looked like people were living there so I knocked. A man answered the door and looked very surprised to see us. I asked him a contacting question and we talked and he seemed very uncomfortable. I kind of asked him if everything was okay and if there was a better time to come by. He then told us that he had never ever ever been religious, but he is spiritual. Recently, however, he felt the need to join a religion, but wasn't sure why. He was making up his mind the day before he would try something... and never ever had missionaries knocked on his door. He told us that he knew this was a clear sign from God that he needed to come to our church. We taught him the Restoration and Book of Mormon lesson. He is so excited to learn and is so prepared! Honestly if I would have saw him on the street I wouldn't have wanted to talk to him just because he doesn't seem like the kind of person to believe in God, but I am so grateful that Heavenly Father knew Dovavan's heart. He knew he needed the gospel! We had lots of good lessons this week and are working with a lot of people. They are all progressing at their own pace and have very different religious backgrounds. I have learned this week that no matter what people's circumstances the Gospel of Jesus Christ can help them and Heavenly Father will help us if we will ask for His help. I have prayed more this week of my mission than most other weeks. I have seen the Spirit be the senior companion in mine and Sister Bowman's companionship and I love when that happens! That is something I am going to strive for much more during the rest of my time here. Officially I have a new mission President! President Eaton and Sister Eaton left on thursday and we get to meet President and Sister Rasumussen tomorrow! I am so excited! Have a wonderful week! I love you all! Keep the Faith Your Sister in Christ, Sister Northrup
