The Spirit of God
What a week!!!! It is getting warm and beautiful here in Washington! Summer is when you get to witness the results of all the rain in the winter.. So much green!!!<3 I have learned more this week about how to be an effective leader than any other week in my mission. I guess training does that to you haha. Sister Bowman is incredible. She has the most beautiful testimony and love for the gospel. It is so funny to be serving with her, because everything she does reminds me of my friends back in Pocatello. She is constantly dancing, singing, and making hilarious faces! We have been working hard and loving all of it. So Sister Bowman struggled with finding at first (just like any other missionary ever) but this past week we decided to find at the end of the night. We prayed and asked God what we should do. It was clear we needed to find, even though we were both tired and didn't necessarily want to. We did it anyways! I chose a few houses, knocked, and got rejected pretty good. Then the Spirit whispered.. "Let her choose." I looked at Sister Bowman and asked which door we should try. I could see she was hesitant, but she picked one and knocked. A cute Mexican girl opened the door and her mom too. Sister Bowman started to talk and she invited us in. The mom only spoke spanish, and just a fact about me I absolutly DO NOT have the gift of tongues. I kind of struggled to communicate and was going to just leave a card, when the Spirit whispered again, "Let her talk." I looked at Sister Bowman again and shrugged my shoulders letting her know I didn't know what to say. Instantly Sister Bowman started to speak to the lady in Spanish. They had a conversation and I could pick up enough to figure out she was teaching the Restoration. I was shocked! The mom's countanance changed and she was very receptive! We ended up setting up a return appointment for the Hermanas and they were very excited to learn. We walked out and I just was so happy! Sister Bowman had a big smile on her face and so did I. It is amazing what the Spirit can do for both missionaries in a companionship! If we are willing to listen, He will tell us all things that we should do.
Funny experience of the week: We went to do our weekly milking goats service and we walked up and they had slaughtered their pig! This pig was huge and they were blow torching all the hair and skin off!!! We both just started laughing so hard. Oh man it was super gross. Nate walked up and was like, "Just in time! Are you up to help us carve it?" I quickly replied that I didn't want to do that hahaha. It was Sister Bowman's first time milking and it was so funny. I kept trying to squirt milk in her mouth. She wasn't very happy about that;) This week I hit my halfway mark and Sister Bowman hit her 1 month mark! I wouldn't trade those 9 months for anything in the whole world. I love serving my Father in Heaven here in Washington! Your Sister in Christ, Sister Northrup
