Two peas in a pod
Well this week has been a roller coaster ride!! I got my new baby companion on tuesday! Her name is Sister Bowman. She is from Orem, Utah. She has such an amazing testimony and loves to be goofy with me! She is such an incredible missionary. When I first got out in the field I was nowhere near where she is at spiritually! I am so blessed to be serving with her. So first story... On her first full day in the field we went tracting for our hour a day and it didn't go so great. People weren't as welcoming and happy to see us as I wished they would have been haha. Afterwards we were driving to an appointment and I prayed silently that we would have a tender mercy so that her spirits would be lifted. Out of nowhere she turned to me with the biggest smile on her face and said "Look." I looked and there was a huge rainbow! Washington never has rainbows because of the clouds and Sister Bowman loved rainbows. I looked back at her with tears running down my face and told her that the rainbow was for her from God. We both cried and I thanked Him for blessing us. Our Father in Heaven loves us each individually and will help us if we ask.
Next wonderful thing about this week was OMAR GOT BAPTIZED!!!!! He is seriously the greatest person ever! He teases me relentlessly, but I know I am secretly his favorite haha. There was such a strong spirit at his baptism and confirmation. He is such a great disciple of Christ and truly desires to serve Him. We got to do some service at a new park being built in Federal Way and it was a blast! I wore my striped construction shirt and fit right in:) So two funny/sad events of the week... First we were contacting in a park yesterday and walked up to this lady. She may have been homeless, but all I said was Hi and she started yelling at us to go away and to leave her alone. I was shocked and all I could say was Oh.. Okay. Then out of nowhere she pulled out a spray bottle of hydrogen peroxide and was about to spray us!!! She kept yelling for us to go away and so we just got out of their speedy quick hahaha! Sister Bowman looked terrrified, but I just laughed my head off. Good old Federal Way!<3 Also.. Bad news.. I have bed bugs. I woke up a couple of mornings ago with a few little bites and now I am covered on my neck, chest, stomach, and arms. :( Fortuantly I am the only one getting bit though! Please everyone pray that Sister Bowman doesn't get them! Missions are literally the best thing ever! I am so happy to be here:) I have been blessed beyond comprehension. Right before Omar was baptized he was clinging to his Book of Mormon. He turned to me and told me that it has become his shield. I love love love that! I hope all of us use the Book of Mormon as a shield God has blessed us with to keep us safe from the adversary. I know that it is true! I know this gospel is true.
Your Sister in Christ,
Sister Northrup
