Sister Northrup and Sister Orr sang as they walked and walked and walked.....
What a week!!! It started out with a wonderful birthday! Sister Orr and I went to the beach and found lots of crabs! We would turn over rocks in the sand and I swear hundreds of baby crabs would scramble out from underneath! It was a blast and luckily no one got pinched haha! Then we went to Red Robin with the STL's in our area to celebrate! It was a birthday to remember for sure. This week we literally walked miles hahaha. My guesstamate would be at least 25 miles. I know that I am out of shape, because we have a car area, but hey that is still a lot of walking! However it was more than worth it because we got so many new potentials and investigators because of it! We met this one girl named Tatiana. She is a straight up hippie with some very interesting ideas on religion. She is very interested in learning though and we are excited to teach her! Also we walked to a potential's house to follow-up with a pamphlet we left and we caught her right before she was headed out to go fishing. She told us to hop in the car and come fish with her and tell her about Jesus! So that was totally awesome! I haven't fished in forever! Unfortunately we didn't catch any, but we had a great Restoration lesson with her! I think I am a better fisher of men than of actual fish...
Next miracle is we are teaching a lady whose husband just got baptized! The Elders were teaching her, but she requested us instead haha! So now we are teaching her and she absolutley loves the Church! We are actually committing her to baptism tonight so pray for her to accept! We taught Omar this week and he has officially stopped drinking coffee! He is doing so good and read the first 14 chapters of the Book of Mormon in two days! He is just soaking the gospel up!
We taught the lesson in church this past Sunday and instituted a new ward mission plan! It is super awesome and I am so excited to see the progress we make as a ward in helping as many of Heavenly Father's children back to the fold as we can! Tomorrow we are doing a 40 day fast for missionary work and I am so excited! Also I had another amazing cultural experience! Christina's husband's dad died a few weeks ago, so they invited us to an Sudanese Funeral for him. We were the only white people in a mass of over 50 africans all squished into a living room. Their funerals are much less structured than ours. Basically they all pray together and take turns standing up and offering their condolences to the person who's family member passed on. We just sat there and listened. It was all in Dinka so we didn't understand a word they were saying, but the Spirit was really strong. I am so grateful for the knowledge I have of the Plan of Salvation. It gives me so much peace to know what my purpose in life is and where I will end up if I live faithful to the covenants I have made and will make. All in all it was a very busy week! We saw so many miracles! I enjoy every second that I get to be in the service of my God! Love you all! Have a wonderful week!
Fact of the week: Farm animals like hotdog buns better than any other kind of bread. So weird.
Love, Sister Northrup
