Mayo and Jam Sandwich!
Hey Everyone! This week has been packed full of crazy, fun experiences! First off this week I got permission to wear sandals because I have a infected toe that has been killing me! It is freezing and wet in the rain, but it is nice to wear different shoes I guess haha;) We did lots of service this week. We helped our Bishop in his yard and used a wood chipper to grind up a ton of branches! It was so fun and I looked really good in goggles and earplugs I'm sure. Since it was Earth Day on Saturday we did a big park cleanup. We chopped down a bunch of blackberry bushes that were over grown with machetes. It was quite the workout getting all the roots up!
We also had some great meals this week! Well one was great... the other not so much... We went over to teach Christina and her family a lesson and they were making Somusa. It is tortilla stuffed with meat and peppers and they fried. It was delicious!! African food is bomb! We also went over to teach Sister Callahan and her son and he was hungry so he made himself a sandwich. Well he is 6 so you can only imagine it was a crazy concoction. He told us it was a specialty mayo and strawberry jam sandwich. He devoured it and I thought I was going to die laughing when he made his mom try it and she really took a bite!!! The things moms do for their kids haha. It was Sister Orr's birthday yesterday! She turned 21. It is crazy that we are so old! We had a great Sunday and the best part was that Bree and Tim finally came to church!!! They are so awesome and they are starting to read the Book of Mormon. Pray for them! They are still struggling with Joseph Smith and coffee, but Bree says she wants to know the truth and is willing to put in the work to study and find out. :) It is amazing how the Book of Mormon is so powerful and converts people to the gospel. We could talk and talk all day, but if they don't gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon then they won't have a complete conversion to the Gospel. We also started teaching an old lady named Shirley. Most of her kids are Mormon and she knows the church well! We invited her to read the Book of Mormon to find out if it is true and she loves it! She wants us to come read with her everyday! I know that the Book of Mormon is true and we will come closer to God by reading it. I was reading this morning in Alma 37 and in that chapter it compares the Word of God to the Liahona. I know that the scriptures are so valuable and will show us the way to eternal happiness and peace. It is such a simple thing to read, but many people take for granted such a beautiful tool we have been given. I invite you all to start reading everyday in the Book of Mormon! Will you read the Book of Mormon EVERYDAY???? I promise that you will find more peace to your mind and more love for Jesus Christ as you take the time to study His word. I love you all so much! Have a wonderful week! Love, Sister Northrup
