The Washington Experience

Okay haha this week was life changing! General Conference was so good! I loved how much they talked about the temple and how much encouragement through trials was given! We are so blessed to be led by such inspired prophets and apostles. I sustain them fully and know that they are called of God. If you didn't have a chance to watch, Please Do!!!

So here is a small confession... when I got called to Washington part of me wondered a little bit what it would be like to serve somewhere out of the states... Well that is totally gone now! This state is seriously the biggest melting pot of ethnicities and races. We are teaching two new African families! One new muslim family too! So first we met a girl named Berra and she said we could come teach her family. We went back and sat down with them. They are from Rwanda and when we started teaching there were a few kids and the parents there.. well long story short by the end of our lesson the whole family had congregated to listen and they have 8 kids! So we got a whopping number of 7 new investigators:) They are seriously the cutest family! I love teaching from Africa. They are so humble and willing to listen and learn. Sister Eaton told me that the Lord is bringing people from other countries to the U.S. so that they can hear the gospel! I know that this is so true! We also met a man from Afganistan and he said we could come back and teach! We talked for 2 hours with him and his wife! I never knew anything about Islam, but they taught us all about it and it was an incredible experience. We also taught them about our beliefs and testified of Jesus Christ. They agreed to continue to learn. Plus they are going to make us some authentic afgan food! I seriously feel like this little uneducated Idaho girl that is experiencing the world for the first time hahaha! The diversity of people we meet everyday is amazing! The Lord has blessed me so much to be here and I'm loving every second of it. There is no better feeling in the world than forgetting yourself and just serving. Every second of everyday we are thinking about how to help other people. It is so true that we find ourselves, by losing ourselves. I testify that the Savior lives and He loves all of you! I love you all so much and am grateful for the days I have spent in the service of my fellow man and my God!!! Have a wonderful week! Your Sister in Christ, Sister Northrup
