There is sunshine in my soul (and Eatonville)
Hello Everyone! I hope you are all doing well and having a great start to the New Year!! It has been sunny in Eatonville all week! Much needed Vitamin D haha:) The work is moving right along and we are teaching a lot of investigators! Tender Mercy of the week! Last monday we were emailing and my companion came over and told me to come outside because a lady was crying. We walked out and she told us that her little granddaughter had just been taken away from her. Long story short her daughter wasn't fit to have the baby so Debbie (the lady we were talking to) took her to raise her. Well after 7 years, the mother decided she wanted her back and fought for custody. She won and she was taken. She told us how mad she was at God. We just listened while she spoke and cried. I told her that we had something that would take the pain away and fill her soul with peace. She gave us her address and told us to come by sometime. We went by and few days later and talked with her. She was still having a hard time and in frustration she yelled at me and through the sobs yelled, "Why would God take my baby from me?!" I started to cry with her and just sat in silence for a moment. I looked at her and told her that I didn't know why bad things happened sometimes... but that I did know that Heavenly Father was watching out for that little girl. I told her that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ all this anguish, pain, and sorrow could be swept away. We taught her the Plan of Salvation and testified that this would bring her so much peace. She told us that she wanted to know more and how to know what we said was true. We invited her to read the Book of Mormon.
I am so grateful that the Lord has entrusted to me to bring back his precious souls to the fold. We literally work as his hands to go find the lost ones and help them turn to the Savior. It is the most amazing experience. 3 Nephi 18:32 talks about when Christ was telling the Nephites how to react to people that had not yet accepted the gospel. I encourage you all to read it! We can all be the means of bringing salvation to those around us. I love you all so very much! Thank you for all of your support and love!
Your Sister in Christ,
Sister Northrup
